If you need a tire, go see Mohammed at City Tire #2 on Fair Park. There’s no cush waiting room, no fancy coffee machine, and no giant TV. But he doesn’t need any of that because you’re not going to be there long. I pulled up with a tire I had brought with me. For $20, Mohammed mounted it, put it on my truck, and even put the spare back underneath. He was basically a one-man pit crew. It was legitimately over 100 degrees outside, and he gave me a cold bottle of water and a shady place to sit while I waited. While I was there, a woman stopped to air up the tire on her bicycle. He helped her for free and gave her a cold bottle of water too. That told me more about the place than any fancy waiting room ever could. When he sent me on my way, he told me, “Come back and Mohammed will take care of you.” I believe him. He’s a heck of a tire changer and an even better human being. Fast, fair, kind, and exactly the kind of local business I want to support.
